Winterset, IowaLinda (Schirm) Wise, 77, of Winterset sadly left us on Sunday, November 5th, 2023.
Linda was born to Raymond and Mildred Schirm on April 3rd, 1946. She was raised with her siblings, Deb and Lynn in Winterset, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1964. Linda met Richard Wise in her later high school years. After he returned from the Air Force is when they really hit it off and fell in love. They were engaged shortly after his return and were married on August 20, 1966. Richard and Linda were blessed with four children, Brenda, Rick, Michael, and Bronna.
After having her four children, she pursued her nursing degree from Southwestern Community College where she received her RN degree. She worked at multiple nursing homes, a few of which she was the director of nursing. Her final career adventure was working for a nursing agency in Des Moines.
Linda had many interests that included cooking, reading, playing cards, being in bowling league, and hosting get-togethers with family and friends. She was also a very active Democrat. She enjoyed gardening and decorating for the holidays. Christmas was one of her favorites as she has an extensive Santa collection.
Richard and Linda loved to take their children on outings and trips. Watching her favorite crime show of the season with her family was also something she enjoyed. Linda enjoyed the many memories made while going camping as a family. She loved baking, teaching card games, and reading books with her granddaughters. Her granddaughters have enjoyed many overnight stays at Grandma’s house. She also loved spending quality time with her great-grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her sister, Debbie (Robert) McKeever of Winterset; children, Brenda (Wise) Ford of Winterset, Richard (Rick) Wise Jr of Winterset, Michael (Amber) Wise of Winterset, and Bronna (Jason) Englund of Lorimor; grandchildren, Elizabeth (CJ Steinbach) Ford, Alyson (Blake) Allsup, Emily (Tage) Kaldenberg, Madalynn and Melody Wise, Prescott Allen and Danica Heathcote; great-grandchildren Tucker and Emberlee Steinbach, Charlie Moffitt, David, Dean and Darrell Lee Allsup, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Dick) Lee Wise; parents, Raymond and Mildred Schirm; her brother, Lynn Schirm; and her grandparents.
The family of Linda Wise would love for all to join us in a Celebration of her life on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Madison County Fair Grounds Jackson Building in Winterset. A short service will be held at 2:30 pm. Food and drinks will be provided. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to Linda’s home address: 1130 West Summit St. Winterset IA, 50273 or bring to her Celebration.
