Marsha Underwood, 73, of Villisca, died Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Montgomery County Hospital in Red Oak. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. September 2, 2023, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will be at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg. Visitation, with family receiving friends will be 9-11:00 a.m. with service to follow. Memorials may be directed in Marsha’s name. Online condolences may be made at powersfh.com.

Marsha Raye Underwood, daughter of Douglas Andrew Busch and JoAnn Lull was born on July 9, 1950, in Winterset, Iowa. Marsha attended and graduated from Orient Macksburg Schools with the class of 1968. She then continued her education by attending Southwestern Community College where she earned her associates of arts degree, then transferring to Northwest Missouri State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Later, she would earn her master’s degree in special education from Northwest Missouri State University.

Her teaching career began in Bethany, Mo., within the elementary classrooms. She then took a position in Villisca and later finished her career at the Creston Community School District. Marsha will be remembered for her love and support of her students. After she retired, she continued her relationships with students, faculty, and staff members.

Marsha was a member of the Villisca Methodist Church and a member of the Villisca Library Board.

She is survived by her siblings: Craig (Linda) Busch of Creston and Kim (Steve) Watson of Grimes; her nephews: Todd (Lynette) Busch of Autryville, N.C., Scott (Kelly) Busch of Creston, Curtis (Kamy) Busch of Grimes, Cale (Kaitlin) Antisdel of Fenton, MO., and Clay (Brittany) Antisdel of West Des Moines; her great nieces and nephews: Donald (Amanda) Fisher, Dakota Busch (Costa Ortiz), Paige Busch (Devin Russo), Jenna Busch, Tyler Busch, Addison Busch, Kaleb Herbst-Larkin, Jade Antisdel, and Emmett Antisdel; along with her dog, Lady and cat, Dibs and many cousins and extended family.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew Austin Antisdel.
