Ida Morse

Ida Morse, 88, of Winterset, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Bickford of West Des Moines.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 15. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Ida Lee Plunkett was born to Robert and Hilda (Erickson) Plunkett on March 24,1935, in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Algona and Maxwell, graduating from Maxwell in 1952.

Ida married Edgar Morse on April 13, 1953. They were the parents of four children: Robert, Vicki, Virginia, and Leon. She was a farmer’s wife, raising her children. She also worked at the Dairy Sweet, Madison County Hospital painting rooms, and the Madison County Treasurer’s Office for 24 years. She was a 4-H leader, was a member of Farm Bureau, and the Madison County Genealogical Society.

After she retired, Ida was very interested in genealogy. She cleaned monuments in cemeteries around the county. She also took photographs of monuments and recorded them online.

Ida is survived by her children, Robert (Ellie) Morse, Vicki (Tom) McGee, Virginia (Keith) Robinson, and Leon (Cherie) Morse; sisters, Betty Krisher, Dorothy (Mic) Frank, and Jackie Forker; brothers, Tom (Karen) Plunkett, and Cliff (Linda) Plunkett; brothers-in-law, Don Brown, Bill Morse; and sister-in-law, Betty Johns. She is also survived by many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Hilda Plunkett; husband, Edgar Morse; sister, Roberta Brown; sister-in-law, Mary Morse; brothers-in-law Keith Krisher, Alan Forker, Jack Johns; and mother and father-in-law, Bill and Velda Morse, brothers-in-law Keith Krisher, Alan Forker, Jack Johns; and mother and father-in-law, Bill and Velda Morse.
