Was Carpet Weaver Here Many Years. Service Conducted Monday.
Mrs. Jerry Rhodes, a former resident of Winterset, who had made her home in Van Meter for the past thirteen years, died Friday in the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. Mrs. Rhodes had not been well for some time but did not become serious until a short period before her death.
Nettie Mae Stout was the daughter of Nelson and Agnes Stout and was born May 1, 1873 and died July 10 at the age of 69 years. She was united in marriage with Jerry Rhodes on January 30, 1890. Mrs. Rhodes had made her home in Van Meter for the past thirteen years. Previous to that time she and her husband resided in Winterset where they were engaged as carpet weavers many years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ of Winterset and had been active in church activities when her health permitted.
She was a member of a family of fourteen, seven of whom are living to mourn her loss. They are Joe Stout of Des Moines, Frank and Blain Stout of Sioux City, Amanda Stout of Adel, Albert Stout of Clarinda, Fred and Mike Stout of Van Meter. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her in death seven years ago.
Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Fisher funeral home in Van Meter and burial was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
