Levi Monroe Archer, a South township pioneer, died Friday, Nov. 8, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. P. Floy of Thayer. He was 89 years of age.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Miller funeral home at Osceola, conducted by the Rev. F. C. Callon. Burial was made in the New Virginia cemetery by the side of his first wife.
Levi M. Archer, son of Asa and Margaret Miller Archer, was born in Albia, Monroe county, Ia., June 28, 1851. He came with his parents to South township, Madison county soon after the Civil war.. He was married to Rebecca Jane Wagner, Jan. 6, 1874, living for some time in Ohio township.
He is survived by two sons: Oscar Archer of Ackeley, Minn., and James L. Archer of Des Moines. Two daughters, Mrs. Etta Daniels of Creston and Mrs. Maude Floy of Thayer, Ia. Also one half-sister, Mrs. Jenney Jesse of St. Charles.
