Dennis Eugene Edwards was a caring son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world on June 16th, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Dennis was born on May 8th, 1951, in Winterset, Iowa to Victor and Ava (Forbes) Edwards and lived most of his life on the family farms in the Macksburg area. He attended school in Macksburg, Zion, and was a 1969 graduate of Orient-Macksburg High School.

Dennis had a self-described need for speed and a love of fast cars. He faced overwhelming challenges in his adult life that he was always able to overcome. Over the years, he worked driving rocks for Edwards Trucking, building bridges, at the Macksburg Co-op, and as a farm laborer. He met Elizabeth Snell in 1984 and embarked on his favorite role yet, husband and father.

Dennis loved spending time with his family, telling stories, eating just about anything (except for liver and onions), farming with his dad, gardening, fishing, riding his bike, and tinkering with anything with a motor. He also greatly enjoyed hanging with his cronies (as he would say) at the senior meal site in Orient. His most used phrase was, “Do you have time for a story?” He lived for his children and his grandchildren and he was proud of each and every one of them. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand or the literal shirt off of his back to anyone.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Victor Edwards; grandparents, Josh and Bertha (Platt) Edwards, and Lester and Rubie (Gearhart) Forbes.

He is survived by his mother Ava Boyle of Greenfield, IA; wife, Elizabeth of Orient, IA; daughter Angie Lewellen (Wesley), their children Jonathan, Jason, Lillian, Carley, and Wade of Bellevue, NE; daughter Victoria White (Michael) and their children Ava and Michaela of Papillion, NE; son Justin Edwards (Victoria) and their children Ryan and Alaina of Adel, Iowa; sister Linda Hennigar (Randy) and their children Jennifer and Molly of Greenfield, IA.
