Juan Harrison

Juan Harrison, 60, a devoted husband, hardworking individual, and a man of simple pleasures, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, at the Kavanaugh Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on February 6, 1963, in Winterset, Iowa, Juan was the son of Claire and Patricia (Jenkins) Harrison. He graduated from Winterset High School, following that, Juan furthered his studies at Simpson College. Juan married his beloved wife, Jamie McCullough, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love and companionship.

For many years, Juan dedicated himself to his career at Super Value Warehouse. He was a valued employee known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Unfortunately, when the company closed its doors, Juan then began to work as truck driver for Correll Contractors, where his strong committed work ethic shined brightly.

Throughout his life, Juan found solace and enjoyment in various hobbies. He had a deep appreciation for hot rods and spent countless hours working on his own beloved vehicles. He was well familiar with a wide variety of knowledge that made himself a natural at Jeopardy. Fishing was another passion of his, allowing him to immerse himself in the peaceful serenity of nature. However, his ultimate retreat was the sand bar, where he sought tranquility and cherished moments of peace and quiet.

Juan Harrison is survived by his loving wife, Jamie; four sister-in-laws Brenda Vanagas from Melcher-Dallas, Jen Jones from Melcher-Dallas, Barb Harrison of Winterset and Virginia Harrison from Panora. Brother in Law Barry Nelson and Mike Jones both of Melcher-Dallas, and a slew of nieces nephews and extended family, and friends, all of whom were fortunate to have shared a part of his journey and he leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close to their hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Chris, mother-in-law and father-in-law Buck and Janice McCullough, sister-in-law Cheryl Nelson, a nephew Wade James, and several half nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. At this time, no services are scheduled.
