Mrs. George Mitchell

Minerva de Idamira Daniel was born on April 17, 1881 in Park county, Indiana, and died on July 7, 1939 at Broadlawn’s General Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 58 years, three months and twenty days.

When an infant she came with her parents, Allie and W. B. Daniel, to Madison county, where she grew to womanhood. In 1900 she was united in marriage to George Mitchell of New Virginia where they lived on a farm. To this union were born three children, Beatrice who preceded her mother in death; Charlotte, now Mrs. Roy Rice and Jermaine at home in Des Moines.

At the age of 18 years she joined the Church of Christ at New Virginia where she was an active member until moving from that town. About a year ago Mrs. Mitchell suffered a heart attack and since that time had been in poor health. Four weeks ago she was confined to bed and was taken last week to the hospital where her death occurred.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by one brother, Fred and three sisters, Phoebe, Mary Shepherd and Sarah Cooper. Besides her husband and one grandson, John Rice, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. M. Watt of Ackley, Minn.; and Mrs. George Diggs of Winterset; five brothers, Charles of Creston; then of Park Rapids, Minn.; Will of St. Charles; Marion of Terrill and Elmer of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at the Hamilton funeral home in Des Moines. Burial was made in the Avon cemetery. Six of Mrs. Mitchell’s nephews were pallbearers: Berry Daniel, Prescott; Elmer Diggs, North English; Wallace Cooper, Earlham; Russell Daniel, Manly Vernon Daniel, Des Moines and Boyd Wagner, Carlisle.
