P. E. MCCLENAHAN KILLED IN WRECK

Supt. Of Schools Here From 1901 to 1905 Dead at 60.

P. E. McClenahan, 60, former superintendent of schools at Winterset, was killed last Thursday when his automobile collided head-on with a truck near Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He lived in Iowa City with his daughter, Mrs. Roy Ewers and traveled for a Chicago textbook firm.

McClenahan was superintendent of the Winterset schools from 1901 to 1905. He established the four-year course of study in the high school here, the last three-year class graduating in 1903. No class graduated in 1904 and the first class in the four-year course completed its work in 1905.

From 1911 to 1919, he was state inspector of schools after which he served one term as state superintendent of public instruction.
