Succumbed in Michigan Just Eight Days After Death of Her Husband

Just eight days after the death of her husband, Mrs. W.J. Cornell succumbed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Frost of Portland, Mich., early Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Cornell had been an invalid for several years and her condition in recent months had been growing steadily more critical. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Cornell was one of Winterset's better known residents for more than half a century. She was the former Miss Nettie J. Wilson and she was born at West Liberty. She married Wilbur J. Cornell on June 13, 1883 and came with him to Winterset to make her home. During her long residence here she took an active part in community affairs.

She was a charter member of the Women's club and of the local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; she served as worthy matron one year and belonged to the Past Matrons club.

Mrs. Cornell was the mother of three children, all of whom survive her. They are John Cornell and Robert Cornell of Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Frost of Portland, Mich. She also leaves three grandchildren, Bobby and Jane Cornell of Spirit Lake and Sue Cornell of Winterset.

No information as to funeral services had been received here as the Madisonian went to press.
