Last rites for Mrs. Charles Murphy, 41, who died July 11 at the Perry hospital were held Monday afternoon July 13 at two o’clock at Dexter conducted by the Rev. Wolf of Earlham; burial was in the Dexter cemetery.
Mrs. Murphy had been in ill was taken to the Perry hospital and operated on July 7. She seemed to rally and was doing well when heart trouble developed causing her death.
She was Lula May Slight, youngest daughter of Sam and Ida Slight and was born November 27, 1894 in Adair county.
Her marriage to Charles Murphy took place August 20, 1911. Five children were born: Rex, Mrs. Sylvia Weigna, Mrs. Mildred Johnson and Boyd of Dexter; Mrs. Doris McMitchell of Stuart. Beside her husband and children she leaves two grandchildren, Keith Murphy and Jackline Johnson of Dexter; brother, Charles Slight of Greenfield; and a sister, Mrs. Arch Jones of Stuart. Her father, mother and two brothers, John and Clarence Slight are deceased.
Mrs. Murphy spent her entire life in Adair, Madison and Dallas counties.
