Rita Moorehead, 75, of Norwalk, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Azria Health Care Center in Winterset.

Rita was born on March 27, 1948 in Winterset, Iowa to Wano and Dorothy (Fryer) Welch. She was a graduate from Winterset High school. Rita was a caregiver to many foster children over the years and welcomed anyone into her home. Rita was married to Lawrence Moorehead up until his passing.

Rita enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved preparing meals for her family which were always very good. She also liked to play cribbage and read a good book. Rita loved being a foster mom to many children and provided a loving home for them. She always had a positive outlook on life. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.

Rita is survived by her sons, Marvin (Rhonda) Moorehead, Robert Moorehead, Kelly (Kristen Graham) Moorehead, Cory (Rebecca Jones) Moorehead; daughter, Karalea (Robert Watts) Moorehead; brother, Bruce Welch; sisters, Dona (Donald) Russell, Terri Welch, and Walana Welch; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Moorehead; son, Lawrence Moorehead; daughter, Suzette Sitton; and sister, Sandra Pettit.
