Kelly Freeman, 68, of Winterset, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Kelly was born on March 18, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lynn Dale and Marilyn Fae (Shephard) Sour. She graduated from Winterset High School and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. She married Everett George Freeman on August 7, 1977 in Michigan. The two were united in marriage until Everett’s passing in 1986. Kelly worked as a cook for most of her life. She worked in many kitchens, but notably worked at Madison Square, Bishop Drum Nursing Home, and Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Kelly loved what she did for work and loved to cook. She liked to garden and enjoyed dogs and cross-stitching. Kelly also enjoyed reading a good book. She was also very knowledgeable in pop culture trivia. Kelly always knew the actor or actresses that played in a particular role.

Kelly is survived by her significant other, Kenneth Dale Madison; brother, John (Angie) Sour; nephew, Sam (Montana) Sour; niece, Katie (Jeffrey) Evans; and great nieces and nephews, Camden, Finlee, Conner, Stella, and Chloe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; parents, Lynn and Marilyn; and sister, Nanette Easterly.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with a visitation being held one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be donated to the Winterset First United Methodist Church in memory of Kelly.
