October 2022Francis Eugene “Gene” Snelson, age 91, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 peacefully at his home.
He was born on January 10, 1931 in Madison County, Iowa the son of Suel L. Snelson and Mary (Marxen) Snelson. On July 31, 1964 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharilyn L. Snelson. They made their home in Winterset, Iowa before retiring and moving to Warsaw, Missouri in 1993. Gene was an auto mechanic for a number of years until he became a cemetery sexton for Winterset Cemetery Association retiring after 32 years.
Gene was a member of the United Methodist Church, in Warsaw Missouri. He loved fishing and being outdoors. There weren’t many occasions that you would see Gene without Sharilyn. They were blessed with 58 years of adventures during their marriage. Gene will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Suel L. Snelson and Mary (Marxen) Snelson and one daughter Cindy Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Sharilyn Snelson of the home, a daughter Susan Stephenson (Tony) of Peru, Iowa, two granddaughters; Brandy Decker (Matt) of Peru, Iowa, Brina Tolley (J.R.) of Peru, Iowa and four great grandchildren.
Arrangements for his cremation are under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.
Burial of the cremains will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
