James LeRoy Myers, son of Gerald Dean Myers and Lillie Aderien (Goodrich) Myers was born June 26, 1947 in St. Charles, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, February 23, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa at 75 years of age.

LeRoy grew up in Truro and graduated from Truro High School class of 1965. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Army and was station in Korea served from November 1965 until December 1968 when he was honorably discharged. He served in the Airborne Infantry, 2nd. Infantry Division and received the National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal and Most Outstanding Sentinel of the Guard at Guard Mount at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He returned to the Truro area and on June 8, 1971 he was united in marriage to Dorothy "Dee" Lucille Folck in Bethany, Missouri. They lived near Truro and Murray before moving to the family farm near Truro,where they raised their three children, Michelle, Lee, and Tim.

LeRoy was a hard working and loving family man. He drove a dump truck for many years, for Coopers in Winterset, West Des Moines Sand & Gravel in West Des Moines and Beeler Trucking in Winterset. He also farmed and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, drinking beer and mushroom hunting. He especially enjoyed having his family and friends around.

Those relatives who preceded LeRoy in death were his son, Lee Myers, parents, Lillie and Gerald Myers, sisters, Carol Clarke, Betty Willcox, and Janice Hurd, and brother, Rex Dean Myers.

LeRoy leaves to cherish his memory; wife of 51 years, Dee Myers of Truro, IA, daughter, Michelle (Sean) Geyer of Colo, IA, son, Tim (Charity) Myers of Osceola, IA, grandchildren, Sasha Myers (Rick), Callie Myers (Steve), Shelby (Clayton) Dale, Wyatt Myers (Allie), and Olivia, great grandchildren, Kairi, Roman, Little LeRoy, and Rory as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Memorial services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday March 18, 2023 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jestin Thomas officiating.

Interment of his cremains will follow in the Hartman Cemetery near Truro.

Following interment his family invites everyone to lunch and a time of fellowship at the Osceola Eagles, starting at 1:00 pm.

If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at kalefuneralhome.com on LeRoys's tribute wall beginning at 10:00 am, the day of his service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided later.
