Tom Lloyd, 74, of Winterset passed away quietly at home surrounded by his family on Feb. 15, 2023.

Born Thomas Earl Lloyd Jr. on Feb. 3, 1949, Tom was the oldest of 6 children. He spent his teenage years playing sports, a love that carried on through his life. He lived the majority of the first part of his life in Southern California, where he raised his sons. Tom eventually met his wife, Cecilia, and they were married in 1993. They moved from their home in Riverside, Calif. To El Paso, Texas, and then settled in Winterset in the mid 90s.

Tom worked most recently at the Hy-Vee in Winterset, where he became everyone’s friend, brother, uncle, or grandfather. To know him was to love him; there was never a time when you didn’t see a smile on his face. He greeted everyone with enthusiasm and you were left with his usual “see you later, kiddo.” Tom loved his family, and was always thrilled when he was able to see them. Most of all, he loved his wife, Cecilia, the love of his life.

Tom is survived by his sons, David and Tom; his daughter-in-law, Sara; five brothers and sisters; five grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He will be terribly missed by his entire family, as well as everyone around him in his community.

A memorial will be held at a later date to be determined.
