Page 1, Column 5YOUTH DIES FROM ACCIDENTAL WOUND
Russell Salisbury, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Salisbury of near Patterson, was killed late Tuesday afternoon from an accidentally discharged rifle bullet.
The youth had taken the rifle from the mantel in his home, to carry with him when he went to round up the cattle. As he did so it slipped from his grasp, the stock striking the ground discharging the gun. The .22 caliber bullet struck the boy under the chin and passed upward through the head. He was rushed to the Winterset hospital, but died shortly after arriving there.
A younger sister was in the room with Russell when the accident happened. No inquest was held.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p. m. today (Thursday) at the Patterson church. Burial was to be made in the Montpelier cemetery.
