Amy Nolan

Amy Sue Nolan was born April 29, 1963, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Dr. Dallas and Venna Glenn. She grew up in a loving family with four siblings in Clarinda, Iowa. After a courageous 17 month battle fighting cancer, Amy was called home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. She was 59.

Amy received her Bachelors of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University and married Jeff Nolan on June 24, 1989. To this union, three sons were born.

Amy lived her life with grace and dignity giving others much more than she received. Amy’s primary focus in life was providing a loving and safe environment to her family. She was also a dedicated and loving spouse to her husband. Her family will miss her loving embrace, humor, intelligence, and tactful correction and management of Jeff.

Upon moving to Winterset in 2000, Amy was a stay at home mother for five years before spending time as an associate at Winterset Elementary, followed by a career as an Abstractor for Madison County Abstracting and most recently was Program Manager for CRISP from 2018 to 2022, where she found her true calling helping families in need.

Amy dedicated herself to others by volunteering to serve on the Parent Teachers Organization Board, Winterset Community Educational Foundation Board, Winterset Area Soccer Club and taught religious education and participated in numerous activities at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Amy loved spending time with her family and friends, beach vacations, traveling with Jeff and attending Iowa State games. She was so looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild in May.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jeff Nolan; sons, Logan (Abby), Lucas and Grant (Brittany), her parents, Dr. Dallas and Venna Glenn; siblings, Teri Elliott (John), Brad, Doug (Vicki) and Matt (Suzie) Glenn; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Winifred Nolan; in-laws, Brad (Traci) Nolan, Scott (Susan) Nolan, Tina Butz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and niece, Madelyn Nolan.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Community Resources In Service to People (CRISP), St. Joseph Catholic Church Compassion Fund or American Cancer Society.
