Obituary of Adalaska B. Garrett

Adalaska Garrett was called to the great beyond early Saturday morning after an illness extending over a year. He was an upright man and held the respect of all who knew him. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Garrett and he passed away at the home of his father, surrounded by his loved ones. The funeral services were held in the Friends Church here on Sunday at eleven o'clock in charge of Earlham Lodge No. 546 of Odd Fellows of which order he was an honored member. Rev. J.W. Stribling delivered the sermon. The interment was in Earlham Cemetery. The sorrowing family has the kindliest sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

Adalaska B. Garrett was born in Randolph County, Indiana, on the second day of January 1860 and died at his home January 5, 1901, his age at the time of his death being forty-one years, and three days. He removed with his parents from Indiana to Iowa in the year 1867 where he has since lived. Add was loved and respected by a large circle of friends and through his sickness was a patient sufferer and expressed a willingness to go, saying he had no fear of death. He leaves an aged father and mother, one brother and five sisters to mourn his loss, their loss being his gain.

We wish to thank our neighbors and friends who have so kindly assisted us during this illness and death of our son and brother. Evan Garrett
