Jerry Allen Ball Sr.

Jerry Allen Ball Sr. has fought a long courageous battle with cancer and passed away, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his home in Winterset, IA at the age of 70. A visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM January 9, 2023 at Simplify Iowa Cremation and Funerals 4821 S. W. 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50315. A funeral service will be held on January 10, 2023 at Simplify Iowa beginning at 10:00AM with a visitation held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Winterset, IA on October 1, 1952 to Kenneth and Evelyn (Welcher) Ball. In 1970 Jerry graduated from the Winterset High School. Jerry lived an adventurous life. After growing up in Madison County he lived in Missouri, Colorado, Oregon, then he returned to Iowa in 2017.

Some might say, “Jerry was a jack of all trades but master of none.” There were very few jobs that he could not accomplish. Through the years Jerry had employment with Des Moines Asphalt, Des Moines, IA., Ball and Son Fencing, Winterset, IA., Neal Heating and Plumbing Winterset, IA., 76 Quarry Kirbyville, MO., and Ball & Confer Cycle, Grants Pass, Or.

Jerry is survived by his partner; Beverly Maxwell, Winterset, IA; six children, JR Ball (Judy) Kirbyville, MO. Tina Ritchey (Brett) Mount Pleasant, IA. Terri Beatty (Jenny) Harper, IA. Jennifer Ball (Dupree) Des Moines, IA. Tim Ball (Amanda) Des Moines, IA. Sarah Miller (Denver) Marshfield, MO; two sisters, Judy Howard (Rex) Ozark, Mo. Twila Salsbury (Dick) Des Moines, IA; 22 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.

Jerry Sr is preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth J Ball (Evelyn Welcher Ball), Winterset, IA. two brothers; Steven Ball Reeds Spring, MO. Robert Ball Sr Ames, IA. Sister; Barbara Ritter, Kissee Mills, MO; Granddaughter; Zoe Ball, Mt Pleasant, IA.
