JOHN L. HERRIN DIED THURSDAY

FATHER OF MRS. WALTER BOLT DIED OF ADVANCED AGE

John L. Herrin, 86, father of Mrs. Walter Bolt and resident of Perry for more than 20 years, died at the home fo his daughter Thursday afternoon at 4:45 o’clock. Death was due to the infirmities of age.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Workman Funeral home with Warren Hile, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be made in the Violet Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Workman Funeral home until the hour of the last rites.

Mr. Herrin was a native of Waterville, Vermont, and came to Iowa in the year of 1865, settling at Grand River, Iowa. He farmed most of his life, later moving to Macksburg and then to the Winterset vicinity. With his wife he moved to Perry in 1910 and this has continued to be his home.

He was married to 1872 to Susan V. Bruce, who preceded him in death December 9, 1922 in this city.

Two daughters survive, Mrs. Walter Bolt of this city and Mrs. Addie Wirt of Wenatchee, Wash. A son, Charles Herrin of Macksburg also survives as do four sisters and two brothers.

Transcriber's note: Correct spelling of surname taken from gravestone. He appeared continuously in Madison County censuses from 1870 through 1900.
