Diane Sue Truckenbrod

Diane Sue Truckenbrod, 76, of Eagle Grove (formerly of Winterset) passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 11, 1946 to C. Maurice Powers and L. Marguerite Shaw in Winterset, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1965 and attended the University of Iowa for one year and then spent a year in Minneapolis attending school to become a lab technician.

She married Richard Truckenbrod on July 16, 1967 in Winterset. They lived in Alexandria, Louisiana where Richard was stationed in the Air Force. In 1969, they returned to Winterset where they remained until Diane moved to Eagle Grove in May of 2022. Diane spent most of her career as a lab technician at Madison County Hospital, with a gap to work at the Madisonian, and a local doctor’s office. She retired from the hospital in 2010.

Diane was civically active as a member of the Winterset Fire Department Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Lion’s Club, St Paul Lutheran Church, and she volunteered at the hospital. She was a very crafty person and had many hobbies over the years from jewelry making, scrapbooking, and macrame to oil painting, and wood burning. Diane loved being a part of the Winterset Fire Department family and spent many great times at water fights and fire conventions. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Diane is survived by her sister Sharon (Jim) Cole, her brother Mark (Brenda) Powers; her children, Lori and Mike Olmstead, and Jason and Tammy Truckenbrod; her grandchildren Travis Truckenbrod, Stephanie Olmstead, Joshua OImstead, and Caitlyn Truckenbrod; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 5, at the church. Burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
