Des Moines, IowaErivonni Cynique Matchem, 21, broke many hearts on Saturday, December 24, 2022 just shy of his 22nd birthday. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Earlham Church of Christ with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Vonnie was born January 29, 2001 in Chicago, IL to Paulette Knox and Eric Matchem Sr. He graduated from Earlham High School and worked at Jake’s Tree Service. To know Vonnie was to love him. He radiated love and light. I am sure that everyone has a story to tell about the impact that he had on their lives. From the time Vonnie could speak, he made people laugh with his humor. A true leader of the pack, getting everyone to follow his every move. When he was 3-years old he told us he would hold his own hand when he crossed the street and he did just that. Vonnie tragically lost his life, however, please remember the way Vonnie lived his life. He was a happy person who could make any of us laugh. The epitome of love! He loved many and he loved hard. He may have been tight with his money but not his heart. Vonnie’s family and friends meant the world to him.
Vonnie was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; great aunt; godmother; and maternal uncle and aunt. He is survived by his mother, Paulette Knox; father, Eric Matchem; six siblings, Shay (30), Eric (25), Zee (23), Darrell (19), Liam (10), and London (8); two nephews, Montel and Nasir; niece, Ever; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
