Des Moines, IowaStella Lane passed to a better place on December 15, 2022, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 81.
Stella was born in Earlham, Iowa to Bud and Donna Belle (Sandusky) Lane on March 21, 1941, and grew up going to school in Earlham until her senior year. She then attended Des Moines Technical High School where she graduated in 1959.
She worked office jobs until she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and went to Arizona State University where she studied Botany. After college she went to work at Phoenix Community College then returned to Iowa in 1985. She became a realtor and worked until she retired.
She was very active in community activities. She was a member of the VFW Post 9662 Boline Manfredi Auxiliary in Des Moines where she enjoyed helping in the Back-to-School Supply Drive and helping with various events held at the post. She was a member of the LIFT Group and volunteered many years at the PBS Fund Drives answering the Donation Phones. Her favorite hobby was making jewelry and would make and give anyone that lost a loved one a pair of Angel earrings.
Stella is survived by her son Tony Lane of Des Moines, granddaughter Lexi Wilhite of Arizona, brother Dean (Connie) Lane of Earlham, sister, LaVona (Jim) Hollander of Winterset, Aunt Luann Lane of Maryland and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother C. Tom Lane and sister Donna Lee Filloon.
The family of Stella Lane wants to give a big thank you to Bobby Graves and Cheryl Tan Creti for being such good and helping friends to Stella and to the VFW Post. We really appreciate all that you have done.
