Des Moines, IowaLarry Moorhead, 68 of Creston, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa with his loving family by his side.
Services will be on Thursday, February 13. 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at The Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa.
Larry James Moorhead was born in Winterset, Iowa on May 12, 1951; he was the son of James and Rose Ellen (Simmons) Moorhead. He graduated from Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado and attended college at Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota, and shortly after he served his county Honorably in the United States Army.
On July 9, 1976 Larry was united in marriage to Marilyn Sweat in Graham, Missouri. They made their home in Spirit Lake, Iowa where Larry was a Police Officer and then was the Police Captain until his retirement. He had been a member of the North West Iowa Drug Task Force. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing antiques with Marilyn and making custom farm toys. His most important job in his life was his family and always attended events that his son Justin participated in. He had a great love for his 4-legged friends, Dot and Charmin his cats and his St Bernard, Samantha.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Marilyn of Creston, Iowa, and son, Justin Moorhead of Des Moines.
In death he rejoins his parents James and Rose Ellen Moorhead.
