December 2022Tina (Strable) Turner, 92, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022, at the Village in Indianola, Iowa. Tina lived a long full life filled with family and friends.
Tina was born to Vern and Betty Strable on January 23, 1930. Tina grew up in the St. Charles area and made many great friends. Tina was united in marriage to Ralph Turner in July 1947. The couple lived on a farmstead west of Indianola. Tina was a dedicated farm wife and worked the farm with her husband while raising four children. When not on the farm, the couple enjoyed dancing and visiting friends. She worked at Chapel of Faith church making meals. Tina was an avid baker and shared recipes and love to anyone who visited her.
Tina loved her family and was fiercely devoted to them all. She was the grandma to all kids that she met and shared her love of life with all. In addition to family, her community was greatly important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many.
Survivors include her children Roy (Robyn) Turner of Indianola, IA, Pat (Craig) Larsen of Manchester, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Tina was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Betty Strable, her husband of 69 years, Ralph Turner, a daughter, Peggy Tometich and son Ron Turner.
Although she will be greatly missed, she will never be forgotten and will be rejoicing with all those who have gone before her; continuing to watch over all of us. A special “Thank You” to the staff at The Village Memory Care Unit for their compassionate care in her final days.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tina’s name to The Village Memory Care Unit.
