Wednesday, December 7, 2022Jack Clarkson, 83, of Casa Grande, Ariz., passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022.
Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Clarkson, and two sons, Brian and Greg Clarkson (Kristee). Jack was also a proud grandfather of three, Emily Peterson, Bailey Clarkson and T.J. Clarkson; and great-grandfather of two, Bowen Fehd and Owen Steele.
Jack was born in Winterset, Iowa, on Feb. 22, 1939, to John “Jackie” Clarkson and Mary Frye. He was raised by his loving grandparents, John and Roxie Clarkson after the tragic death of his father.
Jack spent his younger years living in Winterset where he met his wife Judy Lee Percy from Earlham, Iowa. In 1962 Jack enlisted in the United States Army and soon thereafter Jack and Judy married on Jan. 12, 1963. After his military service ended, he returned to Earlham, Iowa, where he raised his family.
In 1977, Jack moved his family to Phoenix, Ariz., for a better career opportunity. He spent his career at Palo Verde Nuclear Power facility outside of Phoenix as a Quality Control Inspector. Jack retired after 30 years of service.
After retiring, Jack and Judy moved to Casa Grande, Ariz., where they enjoyed camping and following their grandchildren and their many activities.
During his lifetime he enjoyed boxing, football and long-distance bicycling, where he participated in the RAGBRAI bicycle ride across Iowa. Jack especially enjoyed baseball and watching his grandson Trey Jack’s (TJ) baseball career from travel ball and most recently TJ’s career at the University of Utah.
There will be no services at this time. Jack and Judy wish to be buried together in the Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. A celebration of life will be planned at that time.
