Klint Dean Johnston

Klint Dean Johnston, 45, of Lorimor, left this life on November 23, 2022.

Klint was born on June 24, 1977, in Winterset, Iowa to Larry and Kelly (Payne) Johnston. He attended school in Winterset, graduating in 1995. After graduating, he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Tator, as he was known by his co-workers, worked right out of high school at Eco-Tech, before moving on to Madison County Secondary Roads. Most recently he was working for Elder Corporation. He wasn’t just an operator; it was more of his talent and one he was proud of. On September 28, 2000 he married Shawna Kay Waltz, they enjoyed life together and brought a son into the world in 2006, Jaxson.

Klint’s biggest enjoyment in this life was Shawna and Jack. He was always up for anything Shawna wanted to do or try, Klint was her biggest supporter in life. He was definitely Jack’s biggest fan and could always be found watching from outside of a horse show ring or sitting in the bleachers, cheering the loudest.

Those who knew Klint well would tell you that he had the biggest heart, but he would also tell you exactly how it was. He was not one to mince words but would offer a helping hand, encouragement, a whiskey or a hug if you needed it. He never turned down a good time and seemed to have a knack for conversation, he certainly never met a stranger. He had a humor that could not be matched, just ask his nephews. His smile, laugh, singing and conversation will be missed by many.

Klint was preceded in death by his mother, Kelly; and two grandfathers, Kenneth Payne and Donald (Doc) Johnston.

He is survived by his wife, Shawna; son, Jack; father, Larry (Kim) Johnston; brothers, Nick (Cheyenne) Johnston, and Joey Johnston; nephews, Ryley, Cooper, and Sebastian; niece, Lucy; grandmothers, Wanda Johnston and Enolia Buck; in-laws, Ken & Connie Waltz and grandmother in-law, Margaret Smith; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

No services are planned at this time, there will be a private burial at a later date.
