Friday, November 11, 2022Carl Dean Merical of Montezuma IA passed away peacefully on Saturday November 5, 2022, at the Montezuma Nursing Rehab Center under Hospice care. No services are planned, and he will be buried at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
Carl was born on March 4, 1935, to Floyd Wesley and Francis Elizabeth (Schaffer) Merical. Carl graduated from Earlham High School in 1953. Carl enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. Carl married Gloria Allsup to which 4 children were born Crystal, Tony, Cheryl & Tim. He later married Joan Brones where he gained a stepdaughter Robyn.
Carl worked at Malcom Stone and then went to work for the Donaldson Company where he retired from. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and hanging out in his garage with his friends and family.
Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 41 years Joan, his children Crystal (Steve) Tommingo of Urbandale, Tony Merical of Stuart, Tim (Carol) Merical of Grinnell, stepdaughter Robyn Berado of Oakland Acres, and son-in-law Sean Casey of Philadelphia PA; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, brothers Jay Lee Merical of Greenfield and Gary (Linda) Merical of Brooklyn, and sister in-laws Judy Rudicil of Gilman and Susan Brones of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Merical, brother Floyd (Jr) Merical and sister Zola Williams. Carl will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
