Christopher Eslinger, 48, of Afton, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home in Afton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 18, 2022, at the Powers Funeral Home 612 N. Dodge in Afton. Services will be live streamed. Pastor Mary O’Riley and Shelia Sutton will officiate.

Following the service there will be a continuation of the Celebration of life at Lakeshore Golf and Country Club, in Afton, IA. Interment will be private at a later date. Open visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday November 17, with family receiving friends 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Chris’ family.

Christopher Alan Eslinger, son of Ernie L. Eslinger and Cathy Sackett was born on April 4, 1974 in Winterset, Iowa. He graduated from East Union High School in Afton in 1992, and continued his education attending SWCC and later transferring to ISU.

On May 3, 1997, Chris married Mindi B. Boone in Afton. They settled in Afton, where Chris worked for McAninch Construction. They moved to Treynor where Chris and Mindi operated Rusk Foods and returned to Afton in 2006, where Chris started with Alliant Energy as a materials coordinator. Chris also worked with B & K Industries putting up grain bins, and with T & T, repairing golf carts.

Chris was the assistant golf coach at East Union High School. He served on the Afton REC Board and the Lake Shore Golf and Country Club Board in Afton. Chris loved his family, golf, his friends, he never knew a stranger, and was always the life of the party.

Survivors include his wife Mindi Eslinger; two daughters, Quinn and Aimes Eslinger, a son, Zayne of Afton; his brother, Jeff and Wendi, nephew, Keaton and nieces, Kaela and Kinsey Eslinger of Macksburg; in-laws, Di and Elane Boone of Afton; and brother in-law, Hank and Dominika Boone, nephew, Max and niece Alexandra of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and his extended family.

Chris was preceded in death by his father Ernie Eslinger.
