She married Marshall Harpole on June 25, 1961, at the First Christian Church in Winterset. Georgia worked in the Madison County Treasurer’s office for 21 years. She also worked for the Chester Bentz Law Office as a legal assistant, and at Northwestern Bell Telephone as a switch operator.

Georgia was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a founding member of the Iowa Preceptor Delta Tau chapter, pledging in July of 1970, and was a member for 52 years. Georgia enjoyed volunteering and helping where needed. She was a volunteer for Iowa S.H.I.I.P. She also made many shawls and blankets for hospice patients. Georgia was also involved in working the election polls, being an AFS exchange student host, and an FFA Alumni supporter for many years.

She also enjoyed traditional country music and bluegrass festivals. She loved working in her garden and flower beds, sharing the fruits of her labor with family and those in need. Georgia was also a fantastic seamstress, crocheting many blankets for her family, especially her grandkids. She also loved to read and could typically read a book in a matter of a couple of days.

Over the years, she loved helping and teaching her kids and then her grandkids with projects in 4-H, FFA, sewing, baking and gardening.
