Walker Clark Berry was born May 15, 1855 to Joel and Ellen J. (Clark) Berry in Madison County, Iowa. Ellen was Joel’s 2nd wife.

Walker was married December 20, 1882 to Mary Adele Finley in Page County, Iowa. They, along with Walker’s two brothers, Scott and James and their families took off in covered wagon from Iowa to Hand County, South Dakota in 1885.

Walker and Mary Adele had 11 children born to this union. They continued to live in the Ree Heights area until Walker’s death April 19, 1920. He was buried in the Morningside Cemetery in Ree Heights, Hand County, South Dakota.
