Mildred Means, Lorimor

Mildred Iva Means, 98, of Lorimor died March 15, 2004, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Fri., March 19, at Lorimor United Methodist Church with Pastors Ben Turner and Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.

Mildred Means was born Aug. 24, 1905, to Cassius and Lula (Ives) Loy of Murray. She graduated from Lorimor High School in 1924 and later received a teaching certificate. Mildred taught country school in her early years. On Aug. 4, 1926, she married Lewis D. Means. They resided in Lorimor until 1946. They also lived in Mingo from 1946-51 and Berwick from 1951-54. They returned to Lorimor in 1954. She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and Lorimor American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Richard D. Means of Mingo, Michael L. Means of Twin Lakes, Wis., and Robert E. Means of Lorimor; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lorimor United Methodist Church or the Lorimor American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset.
