Osceola, IowaServices for Evelyn Marie Camp, 98, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 at The Village in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St. Charles Parish, St. Charles, IA. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery, rural Madison County, IA.
Evelyn was born July 29, 1924 in Clarke County, Iowa to parents, Harvey and Dorothy Camp. She was the fourth of nine children. Evelyn was a graduate of both Patterson High School and Simpson College. She started teaching in rural Clarke County and ended her 40 plus year teaching career from Muscatine public schools. Following retirement, she, her mother and sister moved to Indianola to be nearer their family. Evelyn was a member of Indianola First United Methodist Church, an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and word games, photography, and keeping in touch with her extended family and friends through social media, writing letters, and sending cards.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Armstrong of Indianola; brother, Glenn Camp and wife Diana of Indianola; sister-in-law, Phyllis Camp of Gilbert, Arizona; many nieces and nephews (including great and great greats); as well as her family of friends at Vintage Hills in Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Mary; brothers, Marvin and wife Gladyne, Marion and wife Becky, Robert and wife Mary, and Dan; sister, Marilyn Jane; and brother-in-law, Jess Armstrong.
Her family would like to express our appreciation to Wesley Life Hospice, the staff at The Village for the care she received while residing there, and a special thank you to her "forever friend" Kim Brady, for her many acts of kindness to Evelyn over the past several years.
