October 2022Willard J. Stanford was born to Willard & Ruth Stanford on July 18, 1927 in Decatur County Iowa. The very first set of triplets to be born in Decatur County. Willard was the first born of the triplets, Wilbur & Willis Stanford preceded Willard in death.
Willard was married to Ernestine (Bardwell) Stanford for 27 years with 3 children from the union; Willard Dale Stanford (Susan), Rebecca Johnston (Don) and Patricia John (Tim). Willard then married Margaret Dillinger and were together for 34 years before Margaret’s death. Margaret brought 6 step children into his life; Bev Dillinger, Russell Dillinger (Janet), Steve Dillinger (Debbie), Bob Dillinger (Diane), Roger Dillinger (Anne) and Kenny Dillinger who preceded both of them in death. A numerous amount of grandchildren as well as great and great great grandchildren combined from the two unions.
Willard spent his final good day and night with his grandson, Timothy Johnston on October 1st before passing peacefully on October 2nd 2022 at the home of his daughter with many of his loved ones at his side. The world will never know a kinder more loving man and he will be missed by many.
