Former Resident Dies In Des Moines

According to a recent news release in the Des Moines register, Robert Howard Clayton, 32, who was born in Earlham, took his own life by hanging Sunday. He had lived in Des Moines since 1926. The Polk county sheriff said his wife Mary found the body when she and her two children, Rosemary, 9 and Lawrence 5 returned from church about 9:50 a. m. She said Clayton left a note asking her to call a priest.
Mrs. Clayton said her husband had been ill for several months.

Services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity where he was a member. Burial was in the Glendale cemetery.
