Terri (Mikkelsen) Miller, 65, of Des Moines, died Tuesday August 2, 2022, at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of life graveside memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 17, 2022 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials can be directed to Broadlawns Medical Center Memorial Fund. Terri Lynn (Mikkelsen) Miller, daughter of Raymond “Griz” Clyde Mikkelsen and Marjorie Claire (Briggs) Mikkelsen, was born September 17, 1956 in Creston, Ia. Terri graduated from East Union High School in 1974. She continued her education at Southwestern in Creston and later Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Ia. graduating with a business degree.

In 1976 Terri was united in marriage to Carl Miller in Afton, Ia. They settled in Peru, Ia. where she began working at Eaton Corp. in Winterset. They were later divorced. Terri moved to Fontanelle, Ia. and then Palmer, Alaska with her partner Jeff Parkis, where she worked in retail.

She returned to Iowa in 2013, living in New Virginia and Truro, Ia. Due to health concerns, Terri later moved to Des Moines, Ia. in 2018.

Terri enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, singing, and antiques. She always had a large garden and preserved much of her produce. Terri was deeply religious and found comfort in her faith.

Terri is survived by her two sons Erik (wife Rachel) Miller of Peru, Ia. and Nathan (wife Meghan) Miller of Winterset, Ia.; daughter, Lara (husband Rich) Edwards of St. Charles, Ia.; brother, Tim (wife Carolyn) Mikkelsen of Urbandale, Ia.; two sisters, Jane Wimmer of Scottsdale, Az. and Heidi Reimer of Brandon, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Wyatt Miller, Cheyenne Miller, Tre Edwards, Addisyn Edwards, Max Edwards, Cameron Miller, and Cecilia Miller and one great-grandchild Brynnlea Miller. Terri is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lori Mikkelsen and brother Gary Mikkelsen.
