Madison Co.--Sad Accident.---The Winterset Madisonian states that while Jacob Dowers was hauling wood to Winterset, in going up a steep hill the horses baulked and turned the wagon over. Two little boys, aged eleven and five years, sons of Israel Miller, who were riding on top of the load, fell with great force, killing one of them almost instantly, his head having struck on a rock; the other boy, the youngest, had a shoulder, leg, and arm broken.

Transcriber’s note: 1856 Iowa State Census lists Israel Miller and his wife Syntha along with two sons Joseph and Wm. F. living in Center Township. In 1860 census, it shows Israel and Syntha living with son Wm. F., age 7 and son L.B., age 3/12. No gravestone for Joseph is found in the Worthington cemetery where Israel and Syntha are buried.
