Well Known Resident Dies After Bried Illness From Infection

The community was shocked and saddened early Tuesday morning when it was announced that John A. Meacham had passed away at 3 o'clock a.m., death being due to to tetanic poisoning falling an infection sustained ten days previously.

Mr. Meacham received a slight cut on the finger while cutting meat and three days later blood poisoning developed which rapidly spread over his body, resulting in his death as stated.

John Andrew Meacham was born in Warren county, Illinois on the 14th day of September, 1861. At the age of 17, he moved with his parents to Iowa, where he lived for several years.

On October 10th, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Inez Sheelley, of Rawlins county, Kansas, and for some time the couple made their home in Nebraska. In 1905, they moved to Ash Mesa and have made their home in this vicinity up to this time. Eight years ago they moved to the beautiful home, two miles southeast of Delta, which is still the family residence.

Mr. Meacham passed from earthly life, January 13th, 1925, at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and 29 days. Five children were the issue of this union, three of whom passed away in early childhood. Two sons, Earl and Urvin, both of Delta, are left with the wife to mourn the loss of a good husband and father.

He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Clarinda Meacham of Winterset, Iowa, four brothers, A.A. Meacham and H.E. Meacham of Montana, Z.H. Meacham of Freson, California and Frank R. Meacham of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and two sisters, Mrs. L.E. Wright of Winterset, Iowa and Mrs. Ernest Darnell of Harlowtown, Montana.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the family home, at 2 o'clock, and will be in charge of Rev. B.F. Stalling of the Christian church.
