Jennie Jo Elder, 70, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.

Jennie Jo Jessup was born on Sept. 13, 1938, in Winterset, the daughter of Vernon and Sylvia (Delph) Jessup. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1956.

Jo lived in Lewis, Iowa, for many years before moving to California, Oregon and Nevada. After returning to Atlantic in 1992, she worked at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club and the Elks Lodge.

She enjoyed reading, watching movies, and her weekly games of cards with her lady friends. Jo thought the world of her family and grandchildren and looked forward to attending their activities through the years.

Jo is survived by her sons, David "Arch" (Pam) Auerbach of Atlantic, Rick (Mary) Auerbach of Gilbert, Ariz., and John Elder of Eugene, Ore.; her grandsons, Doug, Jake, Rob and Daniel Auerbach, and Austin and Riley Elder; her sister, Sara Dokter of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Sylvia Jessup; her sisters, Baby Jessup in infancy and Beverly Puckett.

Memorial services will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Immediately following the memorial service the family invites you to join them for brunch in the church fellowship hall.

Burial of ashes will be held in the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.

No scheduled visitation will be held.
