Carl A. Lawrence, Sr., 84, was born February 16, 1921 in Madison County, IA, and died March 14, 2005. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 and married Ila "Irene" Morgan on May 11, 1945. He worked as a farmhand most of his life.

Carl is survived by a daughter, Dorothy (Larry) Kearney of Harbine, NE; sons, Carl A. Lawrence, Jr. of New Mexico, Andrew (Mert) Lawrence of Des Moines, Lee (Barbara) Lawrence of New Mexico and Edwin Lawrence of Newton; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Van Sickle of Des Moines, Maxine Ransom of Indianola and Betty (Bob) Doughty of New Jersey; and brother, Paul (Pat) Lawrence of Milo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Amanda Lyons Lawrence; wife, Ila "Irene"; son, Alan Lawrence; great-grandson, Brandon Kearney; brother, Earl Lawrence; and sister, Ruby Warden.

Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date at the Peoria Union Cemetery of rural Maxwell, IA. A memorial has been established to the Special Care Unit of the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. Arrangements by Fox Funeral Home, 1116 N. 19th. Beatrice. NE.
