Maurice Eugene Pritchard

Maurice Eugene Pritchard, better known as “Gene”, passed away on Feb. 10, 2022, at 11:05 a. m.
Gene was born on Sept. 12, 1937, in West Des Moines, Iowa

Gene graduated and married his high school sweetheart, Donna, in 1955. He worked for the Rock Island and Burlington Northern Railroad companies.

Gene was a great family man and loved to serve his community. He had a great love for trains and was one of the original members the Central Iowa Garden Railroad Society. He spent many hours volunteering as a Lions Club member, at his local church, United Methodist and at the Madison County Historical Museum. He had received numerous plaques and awards, including the Madison County Volunteer of the Year award in 2001.

When Gene wasn’t serving, he enjoyed spending time with his grand kids and great-grandkids. Gene was always happiest when he was around children; he loved to make them smile.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, David Maurice Pritchard and Lawene Fern Pritchard; his brother, Curtis Elvin Pritchard; his sister, Karen Ray Chandler; his son-in-law, Steve Bladt; and his grandson, Luis Adrian Acosta. He is survived by his wife, Donna Pritchard; his son Terry (Teresa) Pritchard; daughters, Darla Trindle and Peggy Bladt; his sister, Marlene Ruth Rice; grandchildren, Tammi Marrow, Andy (Amber) Pritchard; Aaron (Beth) Pritchard, Cory (Jessica) Pritchard, Darren (Leslie) Bladt, Keith (Shannon) Bladt, Kyle (Amanda) Bladt, Rebecca Bladt, Maria (Roberto) Regalado; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grand children.

Celebration of Life will be held May 21 at First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
