Joseph G. Stuchel, 60, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2022.

Joe was born on March 22, 1961 in Centerville, IA to Henry and Rosemary (Schleier) Stuchel. Growing up, he was a member of the Cub Scouts and later the Boy Scouts. He graduated from Winterset High School with the class of 1979. From there, he attended Central College in Pella and graduated with a B.A. in Accounting and Computer Science in 1983. Joe later went on to become a business owner, owning Bishops Cut & Color, Colorado Springs.

Joe lived all over the continental United States from both coasts and back to the Midwest, eventually settling in Colorado Springs, CO. He knew, and was loved, by so many people all over the country, especially his family. Joe was a passionate man with deep convictions. He believed deeply in his faith and found joy serving in the Music Ministries in the various parishes he attended over the years.

Joe lived life to the fullest. He loved to travel and experience different cultures. Being outdoors brought him immense joy in life. He loved hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities. He was also a musician and accomplished photographer. He played the saxophone and was a great vocalist. Joe was always trying to learn new things and picked up trades like carpentry and home remodeling.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Richard Williams.

He is survived by his parents, Henry “Hank” and Rosemary Stuchel; siblings, Sue Williams, Hank (Lainie) Stuchel, Mark (Suzy) Stuchel, Carol (Bobby) Rushing, and Tony (Mary) Stuchel; nieces and nephews, Erin McKay, Adam Stuchel, Robbie Rushing, Anne Rushing, Megan Rushing, Kimberly Argo, Karlye Groom, Kristina Fritz, Jessica Mathiews, Nicholas Bowlby, Natalie Miner, Danielle Pacelli; two great nieces; one great nephew.

Joe enjoyed donating to many charities over the years and was passionate about giving. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Kids on Bikes at 2222 Bott Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 or to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

Joseph G. Stuchel, 60, of Colorado Springs. Colo., passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 13, 2022. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery.
