Dorothy Beverlin, 94, of Orlando, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep, April 26, 2020. She was living with her daughter, Debra Beverlin Armstrong and son-in-law, Frank Armstrong in Winter Garden, FL at the time.

Dorothy was born, March 24, 1926 on the family farm in Madison County, IA. Dorothy was the daughter of George and Marie Crawford. Dorothy married the late Max Corwin Beverlin on September 1, 1946. They lived in Iowa until 1978 when they moved to Florida. Dorothy and Max joined the Presbyterian Church wherever they lived and were very involved in church activities as well as both serving in several leadership positions at the church. Dorothy and Max were a team. They cooked together, they entertained together, they played cards together and they raised three children together.

Max passed away, February 19, 2003. They were married 56 years. After Max’s death, Dorothy continued her church activities including serving on the preschool board. Dorothy also enjoyed functions with her PEO sisters and spent lots of fun times with a special quartet of widows (whom her children lovingly referred to as “the blue haired ladies”), traveling around the country.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dr. Denise Beverlin Kern and her late husband, Dr. James L. Kern, of New Braunfels, Texas, her daughter, Debra Lynne Beverlin Armstrong and son-in- law, Frank Armstrong (Col Ret), of Winter Garden Florida, and her son, Robert Alan Beverlin of Clermont, FL. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren: Kathryn Kern Senneff and her husband, Joshua Senneff, San Antonio, TX, James Troy Kern and his wife, Kate Jordan Kern, Denver, CO, Dr. Nicole Armstrong and her husband, Pastor Danny Demoraes, Winter Garden, FL, Dr. Frances Armstrong and her husband, Dr. Yasser Samra, Windermere, FL, Maxwell Beverlin, Griffin Beverlin and Tilly Beverlin, Orlando, FL. Dorothy took great delight in watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. She also felt blessed to enjoy great- grandchildren, Clara Armstrong Demoraes, age 5, Caleb Armstrong Demoraes, age 2, Thea Senneff, age 5, Tori Senneff, age 4, Tyson Senneff, age 2 and “Baby girl” Kern, expected in August of 2020.

Dorothy loved her family and friends, and held dear her dedicated professional caregivers of the last five years. We will celebrate her life at a virtual memorial service, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Reverends Ferdi Brits and Danny Demoraes of Presbyterian Church of the Lakes via Zoom.

A private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date in Iowa, where she will be laid to rest next to Max. Dorothy's funeral arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home and Cremation. 1132 E. Plant St. Winter Garden, FL 34787
