Lloyd Willcox Dies at 59 Years

Death Results From Heart Attack Wednesday of Last Week

Lloyd E. “Chalk” Willcox, a resident of the Winterset community most of his life, died of a fatal heart attack last Wednesday, May 11, in Grundy county. He was 59 years of age.

Mr. Willcox was born in Adair county on May 1, 1907, a son of James H. and Verdie Estell Willcox. The family moved to this community when he was a child. He attended Winterset high school where he was an outstanding athlete.

His active life was spent largely in construction work, in which he specialized in operating drag lines.

Mr. Willcox was married here June 29, 1930, to Eleta Jordan. He is survived by his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Willcox of Winterset; and a brother, Orville Willcox of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
