Evelynn Hubbard

Evelynn Hubbard, 96, formerly of Winterset, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Thomas Rest Haven Care Center in Coon Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in the North McDonald Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the North McDonald Cemetery Association.

Evelynn was born in Madison County, Iowa on May 23, 1925, the daughter of Joseph Clarence and Mary Jane (Brayman) Brittain. She was united in marriage to Earl Hubbard on April 7, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1994.

She was a homemaker and lived in Madison County until her declining health. She then moved to Coon Rapids nursing home in 2019. She sold her crafts at the Covered Bridge Festival for many years. She was a very talented seamstress and a very good cook. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, and reading.

Evelynn is survived by her children, Susan Marie (Jerry) Strause of Danville and Nancy Ellen (Gary) Hansen of Bagley; 7 grandchildren, John W. Mahoney III, Joel E. Mahoney, Tracy Larsen, Michael Hubbard, Stacy Welch, Joshua Hansen, and Kimberly Hansen; 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lola Brittain; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Clarence and Mary Jane Brittain; her husband, Earl Hubbard; son, Virgil Dale Hubbard; sisters, Carol Brittain, Mary Jane Brittain, and Ruth Aldrich; and brothers, Joe, Walter, and Gene Brittain.
