Danny “Dan” Bomar, 73, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Iles Westover Chapel.

Dan was born December 29th, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Madison County, Iowa, attended country school from 3rd grade to 6th grade, and graduated from Earlham High School in 1967. He graduated from AIB Business School in 1969.

He started working at Bankers Trust in 1969 and went on to have a long and successful banking career at Security Bank in Marshalltown.

Dan married the love of his life, Lynette “Lyn” Reinhard, on May 27th, 1972. They had two children Brian “BJ” and Karen. Dan was very much a family man and he's very proud of the adults his children are.

Dan always stayed active to keep himself healthy both mentally and physically. He started playing tennis in 1968 and continued playing through all his life. He took up running in his early 30s and completed Grandma's Marathon. When his beloved wife passed away, he started golfing. He's done a circuit workout with some good friends on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings ever since January of 2005.

Dan was always ready to help family and friends on any project they had. His friend started saying jokingly that Dan would work for food. Dan never met a stranger. He greeted everyone with a smile and could talk to anyone. Dan enjoyed watching all sports. He was a Hawkeye fan and yes, a Cleveland Browns fan.

Dan is survived by his son, Brian “BJ” Bomar of Waukee, IA; daughter, Karen (Amy Silverberg) Bomar of Denver, CO; two sisters, Darla Flanery of Denver, CO, Kathy (David) Quakenbush of Gorham, KS; and his brother, Bob Bomar of Lancaster, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyn, his parents, Olin and Evelyn (Rinard) Bomar, and his siblings, Jack Bomar, Fred Bomar, Janice Bomar, and Carol Bomar.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the V Foundation for cancer research. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
