McDonnell Dead at 75

John F. McDonnell, 75, of 346 Pioneer road, died Tuesday of a heart ailment at Mercy hospital after an illness of several weeks. Born in Madison county, Mr. McDonnell had lived here 56 years. He was a retired clerk for the Des Moines Union Railway Co.

He was a member of St. Anthony's church, the Holy Name society, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Alpha chapter of the Iowa Poets club, and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. He also was past chairman of the Polk county Democratic central committee.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas M., Rochester, Minn.; John P., Grand Island, Neb., and Joseph J. and Paul C, both of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Don C. Hummer of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Anna Little of Des Moines, and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a. m, Friday at St. Anthony's church, with burial in Glendale cemetery. A rosary service will be at 8 p. m. Thursday at Conley's funeral home.
