Mrs. Donnelly Dies Here at 71

Mrs. Mary T. Donnelly, 71, a Des Moines resident about 60 years, died Sunday night at her home, 611 Laurel st., following a three-week illness.

Mrs. Donnelly was born in Ohio and came to Des Moines with her parents. The family home once was at Sixth ave. and Locust st., on the corner where the Bankers Trust building now is. Mrs. Donnelly's uncle was the late Rev. John F. Barzill, said to have been the first priest In Des Moines.

Mrs. Donnelly attended St. Ambrose parochial school and St. Joseph's academy. She was the widow of Charles J. Donnelly, an attorney here for many years. She is survived by five children: Mrs. I. H. Kidd and Charles Donnelly, of Des Moines; Thomas U, of Red Oak; Clement J., of Greendale, Wis., and Maureen Donnelly, of Mitchellville.

Funeral services will be at St. Ambrose cathedral at 9 a. m. Wednesday, with burial in the Irish settlement at Cumming, Ia.

Transcriber's note: Although it reads as though the family went from Ohio to Des Moines, census records show that they first came to Madison County. The deceased was married in Madison County in 1894 and the record shows her to be a Madison County resident. The Uncle's name should be "Brazill".
