DROPS DEAD ON STREET

George W. Armstrong, State House Janitor, Expires Suddenly.

George W. Armstrong, 60 years old, janitor at the state capitol building, dropped dead on the sidewalk in front of 1338 East Twelfth street this morning. Death was due to heart failure.

Mr. Armstrong’s residence was at 1607 Thirteenth street. He was on his way to take up his regular duties at the capitol building when stricken. Several persons saw him fall and called the police.

He died instantly and the ambulance men, when they arrived, immediately notified Coroner Carpenter, who took charge of the body. No inquest will be held.

Funerals

George W. Armstrong

The funeral of George W. Armstrong, who died at his home, 1607 Thirteenth street, will be held from the residence Saturday at 2 o’clock. Burial at Glendale. Kinsman post, of which he was a member, will attend.

Transcriber's note: Per Madison County Marriage Records, the deceased was married there in 1875 and census records show him living in St. Charles through 1900. His gravestone shows that he was born in 1848, being 69 years old at death.
